Is This Clinical Study Right for You?

If you are still experiencing symptoms of depression, you may be an appropriate candidate for this clinical study. Even if you are already under a doctor's care for depression, you still may be able to participate. Here's a guide to help you decide whether a clinical trial is an option for you to consider.

If you participate in this study you will receive at no cost:

  • Monitoring by research staff during participation in this study
  • Knowledge about depression – study tests
  • Access to a study doctor doing research in depression
  • Help test an investigational medication

Purpose

The primary purpose of the study is to test whether an investigational study medication helps improve the symptoms of depression when added to an existing antidepressant medication. While in the study, you will receive both the study medication and the antidepressant medication at no charge, and your symptom changes will be closely monitored.

Minimum Qualifications

You may be able to participate in the study if you are

  • An adult between 18 and 65 years old
  • Currently experiencing symptoms of depression
  • Willing to take the study medication along with a prescribed antidepressant medication

Be Informed Before You Consent

The study doctor and nurse will fully explain the study to you and answer any questions you may have. This will help ensure that you fully understand what to expect before you agree to participate. This is part of the "informed consent" process. The study staff will "inform" you about the study so you can "consent" to participate.

What You Can Expect

As part of your study participation, you will be asked to come to the study doctor's office for regular check-ups and evaluations. These regular visits allow study staff to check up and see how you are feeling. They will carefully monitor your health. You may be compensated for your time and travel expenses for these visits. It is important to know that you can change your mind and stop participating in this study at any time. Your participation is completely voluntary.

You Can Bring Someone with You

It is often helpful to bring someone along, especially when you feel tired and need encouragement to complete your next study visit. A friend or family member can play an important role in getting you to complete your study check- ups. They can also ask questions on your behalf and can assist you in following the doctor's instructions. This is up to you; bringing someone with you is not required to participate in the study.
